Giants at Cardinals: Webb, Okwara, Moss inactive — Landon Collins active

The All-Pro safety will play despite his injured ankle

NFL: Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

As always seems to happen, the New York Giants’ list of players who are inactive on game day has a couple surprises.

Headlining the surprise inactives are defensive ends Romeo Okwara and Avery Moss. Okwara was activated off the injured reserve this week, while Moss has had his defensive snaps reduced each of the last few games.

What makes them a surprise is that the coaching staff has talked about rotating starters Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon in order to reduce their workload. With Moss and Okwara inactive, the only other active defensive end is Kerry Wynn.

On the other side of the coin is Landon Collins, who is a surprise active player. Collins has spent most of the year playing through a high ankle sprain, which he re-injured two weeks ago. He only lasted 15 snaps before exiting the game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As he was in a walking boot to start the week, it seemed likely that the coaching staff would save Collins from himself and scratch him this week. But it seems that once again he was able to force his way on to the field.
