Giants coach Ben McAdoo “has lost this team” — report

Anonymous player dishes to ESPN

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at New York Giants NorthJersey.com-USA TODAY Sports

For a while, we have been saying that the performance on the field makes it look like New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo had lost the players in the locker room. Wednesday, Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that at least one anonymous player admitted as much to her.

Anderson said a player reached out to her with the following comment last week after the suspension of cornerback Janoris Jenkins:

"McAdoo has lost this team. He's got us going 80 percent on Saturday before we get on the plane to play a game. It's wild. Changed our day off. He's dishing out fines like crazy. Suspended two of our stars when we needed them the most. Throws us under the bus all the time.

"He's run us into the ground and people wonder why we've been getting got."

Anderson said a second anonymous player had this to say:

"Guys are giving up on the season and nothing's being done. Guys just don't care anymore."

Those remarks were made before Sunday’s non-competitive 51-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

McAdoo wasn’t asked on Wednesday about that report, but he did try to strike an optimistic tone during his meeting with the media.

“I believe we have a run in us,” he said. “I believe in the locker room, in the roster. Had a good day at practice today and looking forward to cashing in on Sunday.”
