The New York Giants have released their inactive list for Sunday afternoon’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, and it’s a mixed bag of good news, bad news, and something of a surprise.
Starting with the good news, the Giants will be getting starting defensive end Olivier Vernon back from an ankle injury and right tackle Justin Pugh back from a back injury. The return of both starters should help their play in the trenches on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
However, the defense will be down three important linebackers, with starting MLB B.J. Goodson, SAM Devon Kennard, and nickel linebacker Keenan Robinson all out with injuries.
And in something of a surprise, the Giants will once again be sitting rookie QB Davis Webb. There had been some speculation that he could become their new primary backup in order to get him game experience in games that are out of reach.
