Ben McAdoo’s last stand? Giants coach out if team loses today?

Pro Football Talk says it’s a possibility

NFL: New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Could Ben McAdoo be out as coach of the New York Giants if the 1-7 team loses to the 0-9 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Pro Football Talk is reporting there is “talk in league circles” McAdoo could be done on Monday, if the Giants lose to the 49ers.

McAdoo was beset by controversy last week, with anonymous players telling ESPN he had lost the team and that some players simply didn’t care any more.

That came on the heels of a 51-17 loss at home to the Los Angeles Rams.

Honestly, it’s hard to tell if there is anything substantial to the PFT report, or if this is just idle chatter among NFL analysts. I wrote earlier today that if the Giants don’t give real effort Sunday, it seems hard to believe they will for the remainder of the season.

That lack of effort as much as anything is what might doom McAdoo.
