The New York Giants have signed center/guard Jon Halapio from their practice squad and waived linebacker Deontae Skinner, who was signed to the 53-man roster just last week.
With center Weston Richburg in the concussion protocol, that has to add to the belief that Richburg might not be able to play Sunday vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. A report came out earlier that center/guard Brett Jones would start vs. the Chargers. It is, of course, speculation but this perhaps tells us where.
Injuries have forced the Giants to shuffle their offensive line each week. In Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, left tackle Ereck Flowers was the only player who ended the game playing in the spot where he began the season.
Halapio was signed to a futures contract by the Giants on Jan. 9. He played in all four preseason games, including a start at left guard in the finale at New England, before he was waived on Sept. 2. Halapio was signed to the practice squad the following day.
The Giants filled the vacancy on their practice squad by signing offensive lineman Anthony Fabiano.
