At the half-way point in the 2017 season, one of the biggest talking points for the New York Giants is still their offensive line. The unavoidable argument is still over left tackle Ereck Flowers. Has he actually gotten better?
Pro Football Focus grades Flowers as the 54th out of 74 qualifiying tackles. He is 38th in pass protection, but 64th in run blocking.
Not great.
However, PFF also notes that he is currently second in the NFL among active tackles in snaps played without giving up a sack at 202 consecutive snaps — he would have been third behind Joe Thomas’ 209.
But what do the numbers mean on the field?
Dan and I decided to team up and take a look and see if Flowers has really improved in his third season.
Enjoy.
