Should the New York Giants draft Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield? Scot McCloughan would

The New York Giants have already admitted that they are thinking about life after Eli Manning. They said as much when they drafted Davis Webb in the third round of the 2017 draft.

But if there is a "silver lining" to their 1-5 start to the season, it is that they may have a rare chance to draft one of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft without having to trade up.

If the season ended today, the Giants would be drafting third overall and could have their pick of the QBs.

As it stands now, the top three quarterbacks in the draft are Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph (both of whom are seniors), and Lamar Jackson of Louisville (who is rumored to be looking at agents, a clear sign that he intendst to declare for the draft).

Given his choice of the top QB prospects, Former NFL executive Scot McCloughan says that Mayfield would be his pick.

"Baker Mayfield … He reminds me of a shorter version of Brett Favre. Tough guy. He can throw it. And he’s very confident, and he’s not afraid whatsoever, whatsoever. He’s a battler. I know saying Brett Favre’s a big name, and I was around him for a while, but this guy’s got talent. Every guy you mention has talent. I’ve already said I think three guys go in the top ten, I think five go in the first round."

If McCloughan is interested, it's smart to pay attention. McCloughan is the former general manager of the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers, and had a large hand in building the championship Seattle Seahawks team. For all his personal issues, McCloughan is a brilliant scout and football mind.

If the Giants do have a top three pick, should they draft Mayfield? Or should they use it on another player like Penn State's Saquon Barkley?
