Fantasy Football advice: Five Week 7 waiver wire pickups

Green Bay QB Brett Hundley is suddenly an option

My business partner is a Denver Broncos fan. Earlier in the year we discussed going to the game, but decided against it due to his third son being born last month. A week ago, I commented to the office that I’m sure glad we didn’t book that trip ... DOH!!!

What a great week for the Giants, and what a bad week for the NFL. For my money, the best arm in the history of the NFL now is attached to a broken collar bone. Aaron Rodgers’ injury is the next edition of superstars being knocked out for the season. David Johnson, J.J. Watt, OBJ, and now Rodgers. Ouch.

Waivers are always crucial to fantasy success, but even more so following major injuries to stars like Rodgers. Let’s have a look the hottest adds this week:

Alfred Morris/Darren McFadden, RB, DAL

I can’t pretend to know who will become the bellcow now that Zeke’s suspension is back on (for now). Alf has been active every game, but barely seeing the field. He looks spry and hungry in the glimpses we’ve seen, and is my first choice off waivers. However, DMC has been here before, and has the more complete skillset that vaguely resembles Zeke. He has been a healthy scratch, and looked washed in his most recent outings, but could be the early down incumbent. Both are worth an add, and Zeke owners should consider grabbing both if possible.

Brett Hundley, QB, GB

No one replaces Rodgers, but Hundley may have the dual threat skills et that can still flourish in Green Bay’s system. Surrounded by weapons, Hundley has the opportunity to put up QB1 numbers, if he can use his legs and let his receivers YAC. If Green Bay makes the playoffs again, Hundley will be a big reason why, which would also mean huge fantasy returns.

Adam Humphries, WR, TB

This is a PPR special, as Humprhies looks to be a favorite of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Jameis Winston has a sprained AC joint in his throwing arm. They down play this in the news, but playing QB with a separated shoulder seems unlikely for a few weeks at least. Humphries could enter WR3 territory with sure hands and 8+ targets a week.

Hunter Henry, TE, LAC

Henry was overdrafted this year initially, but his usage and production the last few weeks show where the optimistism came from. Still available in a lot of leagues, Henry should see 6+ targets/week moving forward.
