There were reports a few days ago that veteran offensive tackle Branden Albert was going to visit with the New York Giants this week. As of now, nothing appears to have come of that. There have been no reports of a visit and, obviously, no signing.
The Giants, though, reportedly did work out a group of offensive lineman — many with NFL experience — on Friday.
Players said to have tried out are:
G Orlando Franklin, OT Nick Becton, G Connor Bozick, OT Laurence Gibson, OT Victor Salako, LB Paul Dawson, DB Darryl Morris
These players visited but did not try out:
OT Cyrus Kouandjio, OT Reid Fragel
Franklin, 29, is a six-year veteran who has started all 89 NFL games he has played in. He started 16 games for the San Diego Chargers last season.
Becton played one game for the Chargers in 2013 and five games for the Chicago Bears in 2015.
Gibson, 26, spent some time on the Giants’ practice squad last season.
Dawson, 24, is an outside linebacker who played 11 games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 and two games for the Bengals last season.
Kouandjio, 24, was a second-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2014. He played in 25 games, starting only 7, over three seasons with Buffalo.
Fragel, 26, played one game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015.
