The suspended Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was not the only New York Giants defensive player to leave the field early on Sunday in the Giants’ loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins left after an Eli Manning fumble sealed the team’s fate.

Here is how Jenkins explained what happened:

“I didn’t expect the timeout to be called, so I just walked in, as if everybody was going on the field, the game was over and I just went in,” Jenkins said.

McAdoo used a timeout with :38 left to force the Chargers to use one final snap.

“He (McAdoo) came to me and asked me and I told him,” Jenkins said. “We had a nice little talk and that was it.”

There will be no punishment for Jenkins walking off early.

Jenkins repeatedly said “no comment” when asked questions about Rodgers-Cromartie.

“We’re still together,” Jenkins said when asked about all of the speculation about the team being in chaos. “People try to call distractions, but keep our head together, stay tight and stay together.”
