Odell Beckham, other Giants party in Miami

Big deal or not a big deal? That depends

Odell Beckham Jr. got through Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins without creating any new headlines in his matchup with Josh Norman. After the game, though, Beckham and some of his teammates created some headlines they will have to answer for this week.

Per published reports, Beckham, Victor Cruz, Sterling Shepard and Roger Lewis Jr. skipped the Giants’ team flight home and flew to Miami to party with Justin Bieber and other celebrities.

Questioned repeatedly about the player’s Miami escapades, Giants coach Ben McAdoo said “The players are off. They’re not working.”

Is this a big deal? A distraction the Giants didn’t need as they prepare for their first playoff game in five years?

The reality is, these are adults with time off before they get back to work on Tuesday to prepare for the Green Bay Packers. They can do what they want, especially if they received permission to skip the team flight home.

It isn’t a great look, with a playoff game on the horizon. Provided, though, they show up to work on Tuesday none the worse for wear.

Of course, should Beckham and Co. have poor games in a losing effort on Sunday there will be some who point to their off-day partying as a reason.
