Former New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin got a new job this week as executive vice president of football operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars. It does not, however, look like any current Giants coaches or executives are going to be moving up the ladder.
Offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo were not expected to be among the candidates for head-coaching vacancies this time around, and that has been the case. Neither has been mentioned for any openings.
There was, however, an expectation that three Giant executives — Assistant General Manager Kevin Abrams, Vice President of Player Evaluation Marc Ross and Director of Football Operations/Special Projects Martin Mayhew — could draw interest for open general manager jobs.
Only the San Francisco 49ers, though, are searching for a new GM. The 49ers have reached out to a lengthy list of candidates, but Abrams, Ross and Mayhew have not been among them.
Thus, it looks like the Giants will be keeping the band together — at least in the front office.
