The game between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins has already seen one cornerback leave the field when Washington corner Breshaud Breeland left the game with an injured ankle.

Now the Giants’ first round pick, corner Eli Apple has left the field as well. He is listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.

Apple was seen on the sideline testing his hamstring, but the Giants ultimately ruled him out.

Apple has been an important player for the Giants, playing more than 80% of the defensive snaps despite being a rookie. As the Giants’ third cornerback Apple is a starter in all but name.

He appears to be an important part of the Giants’ defensive gameplan, often covering Washington’s dangerous tight end, Jordan Reed.

The Giants have veteran corner Leon Hall or Trevin Wade to cover the slot and allow Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to take Apples’ snaps on the outside.
