It will be time to get physical Saturday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The New York Giants are expected to hold their longest, most physical practice of their 2016 training camp Saturday, less than one week before they open their preseason by hosting the Miami Dolphins next Friday.
So, if you are planning to attend today’s 10:40 a.m. ET practice you’re in luck. The Giants will be in full pads and it should be a lot of fun to watch.
“Tomorrow is going to be long, it's going to be physical, it's going to be fast,” coach Ben McAdoo said Friday.
We will, of course, keep you updated throughout the day.
What to watch
Will Odell Beckham practice?
Beckham practiced Friday for the first time since being cleated Sunday by Janoris Jenkins. The Giants did very little though, holding a job through that lasted only an hour. McAdoo referred to it as a “REM” practice, and would not commit to his star wide receiver working on Saturday.
“He was out there today. Involved in the rotation today. We'll take a look tomorrow morning for tomorrow,” McAdoo said.
Position battles
There are a lot of good ones going on, and an all-out, physical practice like this one will help clarify the pecking order when we get to Friday’s preseason game. Tight end, middle linebacker, wide receiver and running back behind Rashad Jennings are among the ones to pay attention to.
Ereck Flowers vs. Olivier Vernon
We wrote about Flowers on Friday, and mentioned how lining up against Vernon every day is a difficult challenge. The other interior battle this is fun to watch is center Weston Richburg vs. nose tackle Damon Harrison.
