After three consecutive days of padded practices, Tuesday in “uppers” and Wednesday and Thursday in full pads, the New York Giants will go easier on Friday. Practice will begin at 11:40 a.m. ET, an hour later than usual, and is expected to be a jog through that will only last an hour.
Still, there will be a few things worth paying attention to.
Will Odell Beckham practice? Beckham has not practiced since being cleated on Sunday. A jog through in shorts and t shirts with limited contact, if that is indeed what Friday’s practice entails, would be a good time to re-introduce Beckham to on-field work.
How much will Leon Hall do? After signing with the Giants Thursday, Hall was set to practice but the Giants decided to hold him back a day to let him get acclimated to his new surroundings. Hall, obviously, has a lot of work to do to learn the defensive scheme. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said Thursday that there will be a learning curve for Hall, who had previously spent all nine seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals.
“It's all new and different for him,” Spagnuolo said. “It’s not like you just get plugged in and away you go, so even though it doesn’t seem like it, there will be a learning curve for someone with that much experience.”
Will any other injured players return? Tight end Matt LaCosse did not practice Thursday after injuring a knee during Wednesday’s practice. Defensive tackle Jay Bromley (ankle) and linebacker J.T. Thomas (hamstring) remain on PUP.
Big media day. In addition to head coach Ben McAdoo and a variety of players, several assistant coaches will be made available for interviews. Those scheduled to speak are offensive line coach Mike Solari, defensive line coach Patrick Graham and tight ends coach Kevin M. Gilbride.
