The New York Giants will hold their fifth training camp practice on Wednesday at 10:40 a.m. ET, but this one is closed to the public due to a soccer match between FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium Wednesday evening. Thursday morning’s practice will again be open to the public.
What to watch today
Will the Giants be in full pads? We thought they would be on Tuesday, but they went with just “uppers.” Coach Ben McAdoo has said he wants to be smart about building the team up. Now that pads have been partially introduced, perhaps Wednesday the Giants go full pads and ratchet things up even more.
Will Odell Beckham practice? After being cleated on Sunday, a “sore” Beckham worked on the side with trainers Tuesday. Will he do more than that today?
Weston Richburg vs. Damon Harrison. With “Snacks” returning from PUP Tuesday, we saw that matchup — one of the league’s best centers vs. one of its best defensive tackles — for the first time in training camp. Harrison wasn’t happy with the result. For his part, Richburg likes the challenge.
Bobby Hart’s opportunity. Both McAdoo and GM Jerry Reese have insisted that Hart has a chance to unseat Marshall Newhouse at right tackle. Thing is, we haven’t really seen Hart get first-team reps, either in the spring or since camp started. If he’s competing, at some point we have to see him with the first team and see what he can do lined up against Jason Pierre-Paul.
Man in the middle. Who is the middle linebacker going to be? Right now, the Giants don’t seem to know. Perhaps padded practices, along with the upcoming preseason games, will help clarify that spot.
