Former New York Giants wide receiver Rueben Randle, signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent in the offseason, was cut Sunday by the Eagles per a variety of published reports.

Randle caught five passes for the Eagles in three preseason games, totaling only 26 yards (5.2 yards per catch). His longest reception was for seven yards.

A 2012 second-round pick, Randle caught a career-high 71 passes in 2014 but never became the consistent playmaking force the Giants envisioned when they drafted him. He caught 57 passes in 2015, but the Giants made little to no effort to re-sign him during the offseason.

Randle and Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning often seemed to be on different scripts over the years. There were also questions regarding Randle’s effort.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Randle is still only 24 years old. Someone will certainly take a chance on his unfulfilled talent.
