Good morning, New York Giants fans! Let’s get your day started by getting caught up on what is going on with your favorite NFL team.

Eli Apple “getting closer” to 100 percent

First-round pick Eli Apple has practiced this week and expects to play against the New York Jets on Saturday, He admitted Wednesday that he still isn’t 100 percent after missing last week with a knee injury suffered in the preseason opener, but said he is “feeling better every day.”

“I don’t like watching. I haven’t really done that too much,” Apple said. “You’re missing reps; you’re missing game reps that are valuable. You want to get those reps before games because practice definitely makes you better.”

Quinn: Both kickers will see action

Special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said Wednesday that Josh Brown and Randy Bullock will split the placekicking duties Saturday against the Jets.

“We'll give them both work because it'll be a competition,” Quinn said.

Bullock played against the Giants last season as a member of the Jets, going 3-for-3 in field goals during a 23-20 Jets’ victory.

“Hopefully we can get him comfortable with the operation so he can show what he can do,” Quinn said. “We liked him, we played against him late last year, so we had tape and we had to face him when he was kicking off and field goals, and obviously he did a good job last year, so we’re anxious to see what he can do.”

Rashad Jennings “high” on Giants

A couple of poor preseason performances haven’t dimmed running back Rashad Jennings’ optimism about the 2016 Giants.

“It (his level of optimism) is very high because when we look around the locker room we see what we have and from the top to the bottom, first string to second string, third, we have got talent and especially for the offensive side of the ball - speaking from this being our third year and we understand the offense inside and out, so it should be high.”
