Giants injury update: Victor Cruz, Sterling Shepard, and Jay Bromley return to practice

The Giants get some good news on the injury front as Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard return from groin injuries and Jay Bromley is activated off the PUP list.

The New York Giants open the last week of training camp with some good news on the injury front, getting Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard back from groin injuries, and defensive tackle Jay Bromley off the PUP list.

Cruz suffered a groin injury in the week leading up to the first preseason game, and was pulled from practice (and the game). Cruz insisted that his injury wasn't a big deal, and his return to the field on the Giants' first practice after the game seems to confirm that. He is, however, only doing individual drills as the Giants continue to take the cautious approach with his return to the field.

Rookie sensation Sterling Shepard also suffered a goin injury, though his was during the Giants' game against the Miami Dolphins. It seems to have been a very mild one, possibly related to the heat and humidity during the weather-delayed game Friday night. He too returned to the practice field Sunday

And finally the Giants' PUP list is down to one, as defensive tackle Jay Bromley joins his linemates in practice. Bromley was a surprise addition to the PUP list when camp opened, after having surgery to remove bone spurs in his ankle.

The Giants' defensive line was one of the bright spots in a sloppy game against the Dolphins, and Bromley's return only helps boost the depth and competition on what appears to a rejuvenated unit. It remains to be seen whether he will take part in the Giants' second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, August 20th.

Linebacker Keenan Robinson has also returned from the nagging groin injury that kept him out of practice as well.

On the flip side, Eli Apple, Geremy Davis, Will Johnson, and Kerry Wynn aren't practicing, and JT Thomas is the sole player still on the Giants' PUP list.

Stay tuned to Big Blue View for more news and takeaways from camp as we get them.
