Will the nonsense between New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr, and Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman ever stop. Maybe someday, but that won't be today. Not after Beckham gave an interview to GQ in which he took credit for making Norman "relevant."
"If I wasn't playing him twice a year, maybe people wouldn't bring it up as much," he told GQ. "But now it'll be a lot more media attention for him, attention that I don't really look for, attention I don't really need. The reason that he's become so relevant is because of me."
Beckham and Norman, of course, had a series of ugly confrontations at MetLife Stadium last season that earned Beckham a trio of personal foul penalties and a suspension. The Giants would like nothing more than to see Beckham, whose off-field celebrity is as big of bigger than his on-field talent, put stuff like this behind him and concentrate on playing. He apparently isn't quite ready to quit tweaking Norman, though.
Does Beckham really think Norman signed with the Redskins simply to play against him twice a year? That $75 million Washington dollars had nothing to do with it? I seriously hope not. And I seriously hope Beckham is able to corral his emotions and just play football when the Giants and Redskins meet. The Giants, and Beckham, can't afford another meltdown.
