Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are a few headlines to get your morning started.
Giants' Richburg ranked among best centers
Weston Richburg of the Giants is No. 4 in a ranking by Sports Illustrated of the NFL's best centers.
Big Blue has been hit-and-miss with its first-round line picks over the last few years, but general manager Jerry Reese hit a home run in 2014, when he selected Richburg out of Colorado State in the second round. Richburg is a very powerful player in the run game, but what makes him stand out is that he's so good on the move—whether he's hitting the second level or pulling out to block on screens and sweeps. He allowed no sacks in 1,016 snaps last year, and though his penalty total of four was a bit high, it's clear that he's the most well-rounded young center in the game behind his NFC East rival Travis Frederick, and the arrow is definitely pointing up here.
Rashad Jennings not feeling threatened
Must Reads
Giants' running back Rashad Jennings, expected to start the season as the team's featured back, isn't feeling pressure from the other backs on the roster.
"You can only play one on the field at a time, so it doesn't matter how many you have.
"I don't look at it [like that], and people ask, "Are you threatened?" I don't see anybody as a threat, ever. My job is to come in and prepare as a starter every single year since I was a rookie, and that's what I do every year."
Around the league
The New Orleans Saints are reportedly "making the strongest push" to sign WR Anquan Boldin. Yours truly has written a number of times that Boldin would be a nice fit with the Giants.
No players were taken in the Supplemental Draft, but the Houston Texans are reportedly signing one of the eligible players, Purdue defensive tackle Ra'Zahn Howard.
The Cincinnati Bengals are signing Candian wide receiver Rashain Simonise.
