ESPN's Josina Anderson tweeted Thursday, as you can see above, that the San Francisco 49ers right now appear to be in competition with the New York Giants for the services of now-free agent offensive tackle Eugene Monroe.
Our friends at SB Nation's 49ers web site, Niners Nation, aren't so sure about that.
This further tweet from Anderson may not be good news for the Giants, who have committed again and again this offseason to keeping Ereck Flowers at left tackle.
Monroe's preference is to stay at LT, which does not perfectly match the teams expressing the most interest at this time w/ needs at RT.— Josina Anderson (@JosinaAnderson) June 16, 2016
The Monroe story is the hot topic of the day for the Giants, and pretty much anyone else looking for help at the tackle position. You have to wonder, though, if Monroe might take his time and see if the promise of a starting left tackle job will come along.
