Mock draft trends: Analysts believe New York Giants will go for offense at No. 10

What can we learn from our mock draft database?

With less than a month to go before the 2016 NFL Draft, our mock draft database has revealed a clear trend for the New York Giants. The mock draft community is convinced that the New York Giants will select an offensive player with the 10th overall selection.

There are 45 mocks in our database, and the three most often mocked players all come from the offensive side of the ball. Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell [prospect profile] was the pick in eight mocks (17.8 percent), Notre Dame offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley was selected seven times (15.6 percent), and Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott [prospect profile] was taken six times (13.3 percent).

That trend is even more pronounced when you look at the 19 mocks in our database from April 27 until now. Of those 19 mocks, the selection was an offensive player 13 times (68.4 percent).

Should we buy this trend? The most-often mocked defensive player is Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawson (four selections). Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd, UCLA linebacker Myles Jack, and Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves were each chosen three times.
