The New York Giants will open the 2016 NFL season Sept. 11 in Dallas vs. the Dallas Cowboys. This will be the third time in four years the Giants have opened a season in Dallas, and the fourth time in five years they have opened against the Cowboys. This will also mark the fourth straight season the Giants open the season on the road.
C'mon, NFL schedule makers! Are you kidding me? Can't you think of a different season opener? And why three straight times at the Jerry Dome? How about a home game, at least? This will mark the fifth time in six seasons the Giants have opened a season away from MetLife Stadium.
The Giants have, incidentally, lost five straight season openers, all three against the Cowboys and one each against the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions.
On the positive side, with an opponents' 2015 winning percentages of only .461, the Giants have -- on paper -- the league's second-easiest schedule. The schedule also includes five prime-time games -- two Monday night games, two Sunday night games, and a Thursday night game. There is also, of course the Week 7 trip to London to face the Los Angeles Rams.
Below, the complete schedule for Year 1 of the Ben McAdoo era.
