NFL free agency 2016: Rueben Randle to visit Rams, perhaps others

Wide receiver looking for a new home while Giants look for a No. 2 receiver to replace him.

While the New York Giants have watched wide receiver after wide receiver come off the NFL free agency board, Giants fans have wondered about the status Rueben Randle. Well, now we know that Randle has apparently been lining up free agent visits, and that his first one is reportedly with the Los Angeles Rams.

Randle, who will still be only 25 next season despite having been in the league for four years, has had a sometimes rocky tenure with the Giants. Early in his career, he and quarterback Eli Manning seemed to miscommunicate on a regular basis. In 2014, Randle had a breakout 71-catch season. In 2015, he slid back to a 57-catch year during which he too often seemed like a non-factor in an offense that needed playmakers.

Rapoport said Randle has visits scheduled with "several" teams.

We wrote recently that a reunion between Randle and the Giants might be a good thing for both sides. News that Randle has begun touring other NFL locations, though, makes that seem even less likely.

Eric Weddle to Baltimore Ravens

Eric Weddle to the New York Giants has not seemed like a realistic possibility since free agency began. Now we know that it is impossible because Weddle has reportedly agreed to join the Baltimore Ravens. Weddle is reportedly receiving a four-year, $29 million contract from the Ravens with about $13 million guaranteed. Here is a look at some of the remaining safety options for the Giants.
