Another good week as I continue to pull away from a slow season start. Let’s see if I can finish the season strong .
New York Giants (-2.5) at Philadelphia Eagles
If this was a Sunday game I’d feel very confident. Janoris Jenkins would likely play, the Giants would get a full week to prepare. I like the Eagles at home, playing their Super Bowl (while the Giants hope to make the actual Super Bowl), with no rest for the Giants and getting a couple of points.
Pick: I think the Eagles win this one here, unfortunately.
Washington (-3) at Chicago Bears
Washington and the Bears are both coming off bad losses last weekend, but Washington is the more talented team and should win fairly easily. I don’t think Chicago can score enough to keep up with a good Washington offense.
Pick: Washington
Miami Dolphins (+3.5) at Buffalo Bills
Tough to call, but I think the Dolphins are going to win this one. Matt Moore is not a franchise quarterback, but he is one of the better backup quarterbacks in the league and good for a few wins.
Pick: Dolphins
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3) at New Orleans Saints
Buccaneers turned the ball over four times last week and still almost won against one of the best teams in the league. The Saints are tough at home, but the Buccaneers are getting points and are a better team.
Pick: Buccaneers
Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) at Carolina Panthers
The Panthers are going to enjoy playing the role of spoiler. They are home underdogs here, and I like home dogs, especially really talented prideful ones like the Panthers team.
Pick: Panthers
Minnesota Vikings (+6.5) at Green Bay Packers
I’m not sure if the Vikings have completely given up, but that was a pitiful performance vs. the Colts last week. I think they’ll show up here this weekend to fight for their playoff lives and also to make sure the Packers don’t get in here.
Pick: Vikings
New York Jets (+16) at New England Patriots
Sixteen points is a lot of points for an NFL football game. The Patriots are at team who will run up the score and keep their foot on the gas, but it’s just too many points for me.
Pick: Jets
Tennessee Titans (-5) at Jacksonville Jaguars
I like interim head coaches in their first game, it tends to spark something with teams. I think the Titans are clearly the better team, but five points for the home team in a divisional game. I’ll take the bait.
Pick: Jaguars
San Diego Chargers (-6) at Cleveland Browns
I keep assuming the Browns will put all their effort into a game and make something happen, but they’re just terrible.
Pick: Chargers
Indianapolis Colts (+3.5) at Oakland Raiders
Did the Colts figure something out vs. the Vikings last weekend? I’m not sold yet. I think the Raiders just score too much for the Colts.
Pick: Raiders
San Francisco 49ers (+3.5) at Los Angeles Rams
Ugh. The West Coast who cares bowl.
Pick: 49ers, because why not
Arizona Cardinals (+8.5) at Seattle Seahawks
Cardinals are a talented team with a good defense that could cause the Seahawks some problems. I don’t think they’ll upset them, but I’ll bet a close game.
Pick: Cardinals
Cincinnati Bengals (+2) at Houston Texans
I think the Bengals are going to win this game. I don’t know how good Tom Savage is. If he's the real deal then the Texans might have something coming here, but it’s unlikely he is.
Pick: Bengals
Baltimore Ravens (+5) at Pittsburgh Steelers
This game is always close. I’ll take the points.
Pick: Ravens
Denver Broncos (+4) at Kansas City Chiefs
I’ll take the Chiefs.
Pick: Chiefs
Detroit Lions (+7) at Dallas Cowboys
The Lions should have a bounce back game here and they really need it if they want to make the playoffs. The Packers are nipping at their heels.
Pick: Lions (hopefully win outright)
