The New York Giants need one more over their final two games to clinch a playoff berth. They can, of course, also clinch with the right losses by the right teams, but it is more fun to think about winning your way in. Oddsmakers think the Giants will do just that on Thursday night.
The Giants, of course have a short turnaround this week. They face the Philadelphia Eagles, in Philly, Thursday night. Vegas oddsmakers list the Giants as 2.5-point favorites for their 11th victory, and consequently their first playoff berth since 2011.
The 10-4 Giants have won eight of nine. The 5-9 Eagles have lost nine of 11 after a surprising 3-0 start. Philadelphia has lost five straight. Sunday, the Eagles failed on a two-point conversion attempt with :04 left and lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 27-26.
FiveThirtyEight currently gives the Giants a 97 percent chance of making the playoffs.
One of the teams that still has a chance of catching the Giants is the 7-5-1 Washington Redskins. Should Washington lose to the Carolina Panthers on Monday night, that would no longer be the case.
