Fan confidence poll: Will New York Giants reach the playoffs?

If the NFL playoffs started this week the 5-3 New York Giants would be the fifth seed in the NFC. There are, however, eight more games to play until we reach those playoffs.

When all is said and done, will the Giants be a playoff team for the first time since 2011? We ask you that every week, testing your confidence. The last time we asked, with the Giants 4-3 and enjoying their bye week, only 46 percent (875) of the 1,914 voters said yes, the Giants would reach the playoffs.

Now, at 5-3 what is your confidence level? Do you believe? Are you still skeptical?

The Giants have home games coming up against the 3-4-1 Cincinnati Bengals and 2-6 Chicago Bears before traveling to face the 0-8 Cleveland Browns. It is a stretch of games that offers an opportunity for the Giants to gain ground on a playoff spot, and perhaps on the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.

Five Thirty Eight gives the Giants a 52 percent shot at reaching the playoffs, up 18 percent from a week ago. The Five Thirty Eight projection includes a slim 15 percent chance of winning the NFC East.
