New York Giants left guard Justin Pugh left the game against the Philadelphia Eagles at the 14:42 mark of the 2nd quarter with a sprained knee. He’s been officially ruled out.
The Giants are ill-equipped to handle the loss of any lineman, especially one of their very best. Pugh pulled from the left side of the line to lead Paul Perkins on a run to the right, but never made it there. Bobby Hart rolled into his leg cutting across the field and Pugh signaled for the training staff as quick as he went down.
Pugh did walk off the field on his own, but was quickly taken to the locker room.
Former Canadian Football League Most Outstanding Lineman Brett Jones will fill in at left guard.
Marshall Newhouse, returning from a calf injury, is the only other available offensive lineman. Will Beatty is inactive for Sunday’s game.
WR Victor Cruz also left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury. He won’t return. Roger Lewis Jr. takes his place. Tavarres King is inactive.
