A report Sunday morning from Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports directly contradicts an earlier report from Thomas George of SB Nation that the New York Giants would bench Odell Beckham Jr. if he has another outburst.
LaCanfora wrote that “The Giants have never considered and are not considering any sort of internal discipline for Odell Beckham's emotional outbursts.” LaCanfora did report that “Some internally believe it was a mistake for Beckham to play the victim card in his postgame comments after Monday's loss to the Vikings.”
In the past two weeks, the star wide receiver had an emotional outburst on the sideline against the Washington Redskins that turned into an Internet meme when he got hit in the face by a kicking net, and received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for taunting against the Minnesota Vikings.
"We would never bet against this kid," said one team official. "He knows he has our support and we all know what kind of player he is and what kind of person he is. He is not a problem child. He's a very good kid who has a strong mentality who has made a few mistakes and he knows what he has to work on. All of the noise on this is coming from outside our building; this is not making a lot of noise within it."
We will find out beginning Sunday night if Beckham can get back to making noise with his play, and not with his behavior.
