Eli: “Can get real sick” of Beckham’s antics ... unless he produces

Manning says “you still want him to be smarter”

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning gave an honest answer on WFAN Monday regarding Odell Beckham Jr., saying unless the wide receiver produces “you can get real sick of” the situation.

Here is the full quote:

“I think with the win you can ignore it a little bit easier,’’ Manning told Mike Francesa the day after Beckham caught the game-winning, 66-yard touchdown pass in a 27-23 victory over the Ravens. “Kind of let the coach handle — obviously we got to be careful about getting penalties late in the game and putting our defense in a bind right there.’’

“He made plays and so it’s one of those deals where you can get real sick of it if he’s not going out there and making plays,’’ Manning said, “but when he goes out and has a couple of huge catches and 200 yards and a game-winning touchdown, you still want him to be smarter, but you accept it a little easier.’’

This isn’t the first time the veteran quarterback has shown unhappiness with Beckham. After the game against the Minnesota Vikings, Manning said of the extra scrutiny Beckham gets that he “brought that on himself.”
