The strange merry-go-round that is the New York Giants' roster continues to spin. Coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday that "we will" sign a defensive tackle after Louis Nix III flunked his physical and was released on Tuesday. Apparently, Nix was the defensive tackle Coughlin was referring to.

Don't look at me. I'm just the messenger here. I don't get it, either. NJ.com's James Kratch tweeted that whatever caused Nix to fail his physical "was all straightened out."
Nix has had knee issues in the past and spent last season on Injured Reserve with the Houston Texans. He was cut over the weekend, claimed by the Giants and then released when he failed his physical. Perhaps we should have known something was up when the Giants did not immediately fill his roster spot.
Apparently, this was really about money. It sound like because of Nix's history of knee issues the Giants wanted to lower the salary of the 6-foot-2, 331-pound former Notre Dame star. Apparently, they have done that.
OK, think I have some clarity on Louis Nix situation w/ #Giants: Waived for failing physical, cleared waivers + re-signed to a new contract.

So essentially DT Louis Nix re-signs with the #Giants on a new contract, not his rookie deal. Terms likely altered to lower $, incentives.

So, the Giants once again have a complete 53-man roster.
