Running back Akeem Hunt and offensive lineman Brandon Mosley, both waived/injured on Tuesday by the New York Giants, went unclaimed on Wednesday. Thus, the two players revert to the Giants' injured reserve list.

Both players could remain there all season and return again in 2016 to try again to make the Giants' roster. If, however, Mosley or Hunt gets healthy enough and wants to pursue an opportunity to play this season, the team and player could work out an injury settlement. That would usually be a small monetary amount, and the player would be released from IR and become a free agent able to sign with any team.

Hunt is a curious case. He impressed as a kickoff returner during three preseason games, averaging 32.5 yards on nine returns. His longest return went for 70 yards. Hunt was waived/injured with what the team said was a hamstring injury. Had they simply waived him without the injury designation Hunt would have been eligible for the Giants' practice squad as of this Sunday if no team picked him up. The injury designation means the Giants cannot place Hunt on their practice squad until after six weeks of the regular season, should he not be with another team.
