Eli Manning and the New York Giants finalized a four-year, $84 million contract extension for the franchise quarterback on Friday. You already know yours truly believes the Giants did the right thing. What, though, is the reaction from other places? Let's take a look.

Peter King of SI points out in an SI Now video that he believes the Giants got great value in Manning's deal. The video is worth listening to simply because King drops the phrase "attendant crapola" in the middle of it. Kinda awesome.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin had this to say in an interview with Giants.com:

"I've said it many times, and I'll say it again: He's our quarterback, he's the guy that's our leader," Coughlin said. "He's been an MVP of two Super Bowls. He's a great player, and we are excited to have this accomplished and looking forward to being on the field."

As for Manning himself, here is part of what he told the team web site:

"I'm obviously excited knowing I'll be a Giant for a long time," Manning said. "This is where I got started and where I want to finish. I still have the same mentality. My goal is to earn this contract and do my best and keep trying to win championships for the Giants."
