Training camp is over for the New York Giants, but with this still being preseason media still has access to watch practice. And because it is the Giants media members in attendance apparently witnessed another safety succumb to injury. This time it was Jeromy Miles, who reportedly suffered a groin injury.
NJ.com reported that Bobby Hart (left knee), Robert Ayers (ankle) and Josh Gordy (hip) did not practice. Linebackers Mark Herzlich (concussion) and Jonathan Casillas (neck), defensive end George Selvie (knee) and center Weston Richburg (knee) returned to practice.
Miles' injury puts his roster spot in "serious jeopardy," per Art Stapleton of The Record. I would agree. Actually, I would say the same for Gordy, a definite roster bubble player as the season approaches.
Here are a couple of other practice notes:
- Stevie Brown, just signed Monday morning, was not expected to practice today. Perhaps due to Miles' injury, though, Brown took some reps. Brown is wearing No. 39.
- Geoff Schwartz has apparently shown the Giants what they were hoping to see. Reports indicated that he took first-team reps today at right guard.
- On defense, Cooper Taylor reportedly was taking first-team reps at safety after an impressive game Saturday vs. the New York Jets.
