Giants news: Giants reportedly show interest in Aldon Smith

New York Giants news for Monday, 8/10.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning New York Giants fans! Here are some news and updates for this Monday morning.

Giants may have interest in Aldon Smith

If true, this news is completely shocking as the Giants tend to avoid players with these kinds of off the field issues. Smith has recently been arrested for vandalism, a hit and run and for driving under the influence. In previous years he has been arrested for multiple DUIs, and has failed the substance abuse policy. In one event, he had created havoc at the Los Angeles International Airport. However, the Giants have a big need for a proven pass rusher with the Jason-Pierre Paul injury. This could simply be the Giants doing their due diligence on a player, something they always do.

Training Camp Updates

Jason Pierre-Paul and Tom Coughlin finally speak.

Victor Cruz speaks on his recovery process this training camp.

Geremy Davis talks of a changed Coughlin and his new "scientific approach."

Tom Coughlin won't allow any scuffling with Cincinnati Bengals players in their joint practices.

The Giants' defense is focusing on stopping the run.

Around the league

Former Giant James Brewer talks of how training camp is different as a New York Jet than a Giant.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr is getting surgery for a broken bone in his hand. Dez Bryant is dealing with hamstring issues.

The Washington Redskins and Houston Texans had a brawl during their joint practice which caused a "change of plans."
