Good morning, New York Giants fans! Let's get right to your Tuesday morning headlines.

Jason Pierre-Paul updates

The big story around the Giants is, of course, the hand injury suffered by Jason Pierre-Paul. Here is some of the latest information.

'No chance' injured JPP gets long-term Giants deal: source - NY Daily News

Ralph Vacchiano writes that Pierre-Paul "destroyed any chance of getting a long-term contract from the Giants this year" when he injured his hand in a Fourth of July fireworks accident.

The chances may have been slim to begin with, but there’s "no chance" now, according to a team source, in the wake of the hand injury the 26-year-old defensive end suffered. Pierre-Paul’s only option, the source said, will be to sign his one-year, $14.813 million "franchise tag" – an offer the source said the Giants are not considering rescinding.

At least not now.

Pierre-Paul’s best move could be to hold out until he’s healed | ProFootballTalk

Here is an interesting idea from PFT.

By showing up before he’s ready, Pierre-Paul forces the Giants to decide what to do with him. While it would be easy to carry him on the non-football injury list through the preseason, a decision would have to be made before Week One: Move him to the active roster (and pay him) or keep him on NFI (and not pay him, if the Giants so choose) for at least the first six weeks of the regular season.

NOTE: Let's clarify one thing. According to all of the information I can find, if the Giants were to place Pierre-Paul on the Active/NFI list, meaning he could return during the 2015 season, there is no six-week requirement. A player can return to action as soon as he is medically cleared, be that Week 2, Week 10 or whenever.

Mark Cannizzaro of the Post says Pierre-Paul's actions were "dumb beyond description" and says his only choice now is to sign the franchise tag tender at some point.
