UPDATE:
It seems that Jones will be signing with the Giants Friday morning, pending a physical.
James Jones just informed me he will be signing a 1 year deal with the NY Giants. He leaves for NY tomorrow.

With the New York Giants' training camp officially under way, news seems to be flying out of the Quest Diagnostics training facility.
We've already heard from John Mara and Tom Coughlin, but now Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that the Giants could be making a move to add firepower to an already potent offense.
Veteran WR James Jones is visiting #Giants, I’m told. The hope for both sides is it’ll turn into a signing. More firepower for that offense

James Jones loves McAdoo. Respects the heck out of Tom Coughlin RT @ManganTime: @RapSheet Knows the McAdoo offense well, too…

It isn't surprising that Jones "loves" McAdoo, he had the best season of his career in McAdoo's first season as the Green Bay Packers' quarterbacks coach. He scored 12 touchdowns when McAdoo took over the role of designing Green Bay's red zone ("Green Zone" in Coughlin's parlance) offense.
Jones would also provide another veteran presence in one of the youngest locker rooms in the NFL, and an experienced voice as McAdoo expands the offense to use his full playbook. This marks the second time that the Giants have had Jones in for a visit, so the interest would seem to be genuine.
It is also worth noting that one of the two players to open Giants' camp on the PUP list is receiver Ben Edwards, who flashed during preseason.
Stay tuned as the story develops.
