Giants 90-man roster breakdown: WR Julian Talley still hanging around

Julian Talley keeps coming back.

Steven Ryan-USA TODAY Sports

If it seems like wide receiver Julian Talley has been hanging around with the New York Giants, that would be because in a way he has been doing exactly that. The former undrafted free agent from UMass was first signed by the Giants before the 2012 season. He was cut, brought back in 2013 and spent two games on the active roster. In 2014, he was again yo-yo'd between the practice squad and active roster, again being active for two games.

Let's take a closer look at the 26-year-old as we continue our player-by-player profiles of the 90-man roster the Giants will bring to training camp in less than two weeks.

2014 Season in Review

Talley caught five passes for 38 yards during the preseason. He was cut after before the season opener, then signed to the practice squad. He spent two games on the active roster after Jerrel Jernigan was injured, but was then cut and once again added to the practice squad. The Giants signed him to a reserve/futures contract at the end of the season.

2015 Season Outlook

Give the guy credit for perseverance, but it is hard to see how there will be space on the 53-man roster for the 6-foot-1, 192-pound Talley. There appear to be two roster spots for receivers in question, and Preston Parker, Corey Washington, Geremy Davis and Ben Edwards may all be ahead of Talley in the competition for those spots.

Perhaps the best Talley can hope for is to end up back on the practice squad.
