Cross one item off the New York Giants' pre-training camp to-do list. The Giants and rookie first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers have agreed to terms on a multi-year deal.Flowers did not use an agent and instead negotiated the contract himself.
"It was great," he said. "(I) talked to them. Got a great deal done. Everything went good. It was smooth."
Flowers, 6-foot-6, 329 pounds, has been thrust into the spotlight at left tackle following the injury to Will Beatty. He fells as though he has made strides throughout the spring.
"I made a lot of progress," Flowers said. "I have a better understanding of the plays. I got a lot more comfortable out there. Everything was a success."
Offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo was asked on Thursday about Flowers' progress.
"I'm excited to have Ereck. He's done a nice job so far. He is a young player. He's going to grow," McAdoo said. "We like him as a future left tackle for the New York Giants. Very comfortable with him being out there right now."
