New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin shared his thoughts on a variety of topics following Monday's OTA. Here are his thoughts on the non-injury questions he was asked.

On last week's visit with by offensive lineman Jake Long ...

"Just a visit ... it was a good visit. Said he ate well. Had a nice time visiting with us."

On joint training camp practices vs. the Cincinnati Bengals ...

"At one time we did it a lot. I just think going out, having a couple of practices against somebody else with obviously a little more intensity, especially going into that first game, maybe having your ones take a few more reps than they normally would because of the way the game will be played I think it will really benefit our team."

On the good practice enjoyed by tight end Jerome Cunningham ...

"He made a couple plays today. He's gotten plenty of play time, so hopefully he'll continue to benefit."

On the progress of the offensive line ...

"You throw an awful lot at 'em, the young guys are doing OK. Progress is being made and this is what this is all about. It's just throwing 'em in there, lettin' 'em go, see how they do."

Offensive progress in second year ...

"We are way ahead. The familiarity by the players, at least the guys that have been here what we're talking about is obvious. There's an awful lot of information being thrown at 'em, they seem to be handling it well. The new guys have done well with it, I haven't seen a lot of issues with that. It's natural. They've heard it, they've played it, they've been involved with adjustments."

On the addition of running back Shane Vereen ..

"He's a solid, solid young man. A very positive young man who's happy to be here and looks forward to contributing. When we brought him in we thought here's a guy that catches the ball out of the backfield, would be another obvious weapon that would have to be defended."

On the car crash punter Steve Weatherford was involved in ...

"Thank goodness that he's OK. That was a scary, scary thing. ... Difficult thing to talk about, to be honest with you."

On the safety situation ...

"Those that are here are going to get a good look. There's not that many guys working right now, and they're all getting a lot of reps. We're looking for Nat (Berhe) to get back in there."

On third-year man Cooper Taylor ...

"He flashed a few times today and I was glad to see that. Big, strong man. If we can keep him healthy, if he can stay out there."

On the progress of Damontre Moore ...

"I don't know that he's all the way caught up. I was impressed, I was in the training room watchimg them exercise that (surgically-repaired) shoulder and he's done well with that. He's catching up."

On whether the Giants need to bring in another offensive lineman ...

"We'll see what happens. We'll see how we finish the spring here."
