The competition for roster spots at tight end with the New York Giants includes three holdovers -- Larry Donnell, Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson. It also includes three youngsters -- Jerome Cunningham, Matt LaCosse and Will Tye. The guy getting the least attention in Cunningham, who was with the Giants as practice squad player much of last year. Let's take a closer look at Cunningham today as we continue our player-by-player profiles of the 90-man roster the Giants will bring to training camp.
2014 Season in Review
Cunningham, out of Division II Southern Connecticut State, joined the Giants during the middle of training camp as an undrafted free agent. Despite the late start he was impressive enough that the Giants added him to the practice squad at the end of the preseason. He was added to the 53-man roster for the final two games of the season, although he did not play.
2015 Season Outlook
The Giants have made Cunningham's path to a roster spot a difficult one. Larry Donnell, Daniel Fells and Adrien Robinson all return from last season. The Giants added a pair of impressive rookie undrafted free agents in Matt Lacosse of Illinois and Will Tye of Stony Brook. Thus, the competition for spots on both the 53-man roster and the practice squad should be intense.
