The latest 'Big Blue Chat with Pat and Ed' podcast is now available, featuring lots of talk about the offensive line in the wake of the injury to Will Beatty. as well as a visit from Giants' rookie wide receiver Geremy Davis.
Pat Traina (Bleacher Report/Inside Football) and I requested questions via Twitter, and all focused on the what the Giants would do on the offensive line without Beatty.
Many of my thoughts were also expressed here on Thursday. Pat offered her own proposed offensive line configuration in a post at Bleacher Report. Her proposal, incidentally, mirrors mine.
One possibility Pat raised during the podcast is that the Giants open their offseason workouts with veteran Marshall Newhouse at left tackle as they see how Flowers develops, with the rookie perhaps moving into the lineup if and when he shows he is ready.
Davis, the sixth-round pick, spent a few minutes talking about his adjustment to the NFL thus far and what he has learned in his early days of working with his veteran teammates.
Davis, thought to be a player who could be valuable on special teams said that playing on those teams is "just a mentality. You've got to want to play special teams."
In scouting reports and pre-draft features on Davis, one thing constantly talked about was his work ethic. Davis said it was something his stepfather helped him develop.
"I truly believe if you work at something and you have faith you will get better at it," Davis said. "That's just something that's been embedded into me as a kid and I've been able to use that."
