Last season, Odell Beckham Jr. set the league alight with highlight reel catches and unbelievable numbers. His impressive performance earned him several franchise and NFL records but it seems that the success train didn't stop when the games did and has carried some momentum into the off-season.
After winning the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award and a trip to the Pro Bowl, Beckham has now found his way into the finals of the 'Madden NFL 16' cover vote. The Louisiana native is up against New England Patriots' tight end Rob Gronkowski for the honor of being the latest star to grace the cover of 'Madden'.
The 'Madden' series, which has been around since 1988, is in development for its second installment on current generation game consoles. No New York Giants player has ever received the honor, though former Giants running back Peyton Hillis did appear in a Cleveland Browns uniform for 'Madden 12'.
Some may talk of the supposed "Madden Curse" but recent athletes such as Calvin Johnson and Richard Sherman may have disproved a long series of coincidences. However, sports fans are nothing if not superstitious. Would you want your star-player tempting the gods of fate?
You can begin to cast your vote either way tomorrow from 9 a.m. EST at ESPN.com/MaddenVote. The winner will be revealed later the same day on SportsCenter (6 p.m. ET) where both Beckham and Gronkowski will appear to make their case to be the face of today's football gamers. They will also make appearances on additional shows such as NFL Live, NFL Insiders, First Take, His & Hers and more.
