Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are your Friday morning headlines.

Shane Vereen gets the 34 jersey

Second-yearm man Nat Berhe tweeted Thursday night that the No. 34 jersey he wore a season ago will be worn by free-agent signee Shane Vereen this season. Vereen, for now, has been assigned the No. 27 formerly worn by Stevie Brown. Don't read anything into that in terms of Brown's future as a Giant. Berhe referred on Twitter to the 27 as a "a placeholder" that he won't be wearing when the season starts.

Hakeem Nicks 'nowhere near finished'

The former Giants star, who had a not-so-great 2014 season with the Indianapolis Colts, remains unsigned as a free agent. He told Mike Garafolo, however, that he believes he can still be a top-flight receiver.

"I'm nowhere near finished, man, and I want to prove that to the world and everybody," Nicks told FOX Sports in a phone interview this week. "That's definitely my mentality, but I don't even want to talk about it. I feel like I got into that situation last year talking about it. I'm about to just go out there and prove it. "I can't even describe the feeling to you. It's like a burning sensation inside of me. I just want to be the best. I know I have to work hard at it; it's something that's in me. It's just in me and takes over me."

Draft Chatter

The Giants are one of the teams who think highly of Arizona State safety Damarious Randall, according to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report.

Rob Rang of CBS Sports released a new top 64 big board, and said that defensive end Randy Gregory, defensive tackle Eddie Goldman and tight end Maxx Williams are falling down boards of NFL teams.

Wonder how NFL teams prepare for the draft in the final few weeks leading up to it? Greg Gabriel of the National Football Post offers a peek behind the curtain.
