Linebacker Mark Herzlich will stay withe the New York Giants, a move that was reported earlier Wednesday by a variety of sources. Herzlich reportedly signed a two-year deal. The Giants have not officially confirmed Herzlich's deal, or the signing of any free agents.
Herzlich has been a valued special teams player and reserve linebacker for the past four seasons. He started a career-high eight games a season ago, playing well after being moved from the middle linebacker spot to the strong side. Herzlich had a +11.4 Pro Football focus grade vs. the run, third-best on the Giants defense.
The Giants have also added linebackers Jonathan Casillas and J.T. Thomas to their roster.
In other news, Ron Parker is visiting with the Chicago Bears and Rahim Moore with the Houston Texans. Multiple reports indicate the Giants are still in on both free-agent safeties, those these visits make it appear they would not be the front-runner for either player.
