The possibility of Casillas joining the Giants first broke Tuesday afternoon.
Casillas, 27, is a five-year veteran. He split time last season between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots. Casillas has 18 starts over those five seasons, and has played both outside linebacker spots. Casillas has played for the Patriots, Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.
The Giants needed linebacker depth after parting with Jacquian Williams. Linebacker Spencer Paysinger is also a free agent, and middle linebacker Jon Beason an injury risk. Casillas has experience on both the strong and weak sides during his career.
The Giants have also added running backs Shane Vereen and Chris Ogbonnaya today. Keep up with all the news on our free agency tracker.
