Bill Belichick: J.J. Watt "same kind of player" as Lawrence Taylor

Watt as good as LT?

Oh no, he did't! Well, actually oh yes New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick did on Wednesday put Houston Texans' defensive end J.J. Watt in the same category as Lawrence, the former New York Giants superstar generally considered the best defensive player of all time.

"There's been very few players I would put in the same conversations with Taylor, but I would put Watt there," Belichick said. "It's early in his career and he's done a lot already. Taylor did it over a long period of time, but Watt's done it pretty consistently now. He's that same kind of player."

Belichick, of course, was defensive coordinator for the Giants during much of Taylor reign of terror. Taylor was a 10-time All-Pro and three-time Defensive Player of the Year. In just his fifth season, Watt has been named All-Pro three times and his heading for his third Defensive Player of the Year award.

Is this blasphemy? Or, is Belichick one of the few people actually qualified to be taken seriously when he says something like this? Your thoughts, Giants fans?
