In five short -- or maybe long, depending on your point of view -- week, the New York Giants have gone from 5-4 and on the cusp of controlling the NFC to East to 6-8 and barely breathing in the race (agonizingly slow crawl?) toward someone winning the division. The odds the Giants win the division aren't good. Oddsmakers don't think the Giants chances of beating the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night are very good, either, with the Giants currently 6.5-point underdogs.
The line opened at -4, but has since widened, perhaps in response to the suspension of Odell Beckham Jr., who will have his appeal heard on Wednesday.
The Giants need to win out and have the Washington Redskins lose both games in order to win the NFC East. If Washington defeats Philadelphia on Saturday, the Giants will already be eliminated when Sunday's game starts. The 8-5 Vikings can also clinch a playoff berth on Sunday with a victory, so they certainly have something to play for.
