Giants at Redskins 2015, Week 12: Giants favored by 1.5 points in Washington

Giants open as slight favorite in Sunday's game.

The New York Giants open the week as 1.5-point favorites over the Washington Redskins in Sunday's critical NFC East game in Landover, Md. The 5-5 Giants are, of course, in first place in the division. Defeating Washington on Sunday would keep them there, and go a long way toward giving them control of the division as the stretch run begins.

Following their bye week, the Giants return to work today at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Coach Tom Coughlin and players will be available to the media today, so we will find out how they feel as the season's final six games approach.

In our recent poll, 76 percent (2,791) of the 3,690 voters said "yes," the Giants were going to win the NFC East and make the playoffs. The majority of contributors at Big Blue View agree.

After a weekend that saw the Redskins and Eagles lose while the Dallas Cowboys won, let's also look at what various playoff projections look like. Team Rankings has the Giants with a 52.9 percent chance of winning the division, and 53.9 percent chance of reaching the playoffs. The Eagles are next per Team Rankings with a 25.6 percent chance of winning the NFC East. Five Thirty Eight projects the Giants with a 58 percent chance of winning the division, with the Eagles at 19 percent.

Those projections of course, are nice to chat about but they don't mean anything. What matters is that the Giants need to win games, beginning Sunday in Landover.
